President's letter after the General Assembly

Dear member,

As you know, the Sepla Ordinary General Assembly for 2021 financial year was held last 24th of March.

Due to the exceptional circumstances arising from COVID-19 that limit the mobility of all citizens, the session was held telematically in order not to paralyse the normal activity of the union.

The General Assembly was constituted on second call at 11:00 a.m. with a large number of members in attendance and all the items on the agenda presented for approval were widely supported by those present.

It is important to highlight the approval of the Covid Emergency Fund, which will allow us to subsidise the dues of affiliates whose companies are applying redundancy plans (ERTE) during 2021 and 2022.

This measure has been made possible thanks to the Union Aid Fund (FAS), which has provided part of its resources for the creation of this new fund, with a commitment to be returned by Sepla.

The budget settlement for the financial year 2020 as well as the budget for the financial year 2021 were also presented and approved. Most importantly, Sepla's financial statements were audited for the first time in its more than 50 years of existence, which was one of the commitments of this Governing Board when it took office in 2017.

The support obtained for the management of the Governing Board gives us confidence to continue working on the introduction of new improvements, with the aim of continuing to provide the best possible service to members and company councils.

We live in difficult times and this is probably the worst crisis we have ever faced, nevertheless, be assured that Sepla will always be at your side to defend your labour rights and that we will work tirelessly to be up to the challenge we face.

We are a strong union. We have the best team, the skills, and the determination to move forward. In our 50-year history, we have lived through many complex situations and we have come out of all of them stronger. We are sure that after this one we will be an even better union.

I would like to thank you for your participation, as well as the involvement and commitment of all Sepla staff, allowing this General Assembly to take place without incidents.

Cheer up everyone and thank you! We keep on working!

My best regards,

Óscar Sanguino President
